Welfare of Seized Dogs in Kennels
April 16, 2015
Each year in Wales, large numbers of dogs in Wales are seized by enforcement bodies under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 and the Animal Welfare Act 2006.
Following seizure, dogs often spend a period of time in a kennel environment.
Many dogs find kennel life challenging and may experience poor or compromised welfare as a result.
The RSPCA has produced a good practice guide for ensuring the welfare needs of seized dogs in a kennel environment; aiming to provide for dogs’ welfare needs and assist in the care and management of all seized dogs.
